Energy issues will be high on the agenda of the bilateral meeting scheduled for 17 February in Budapest between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, a senior government official announced on 21 January. “Following the cancellation of the [Russian-backed] South Stream pipeline project, energy security has become an even more acute issue for Hungary,” Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said in an interview on Hungarian Radio.
