Carbon tax at borders: five Member States call for a rapid review

Contexte has been able to consult an "informal note" from Austria, Bulgaria, Italy and Poland - countries subsequently joined by Greece - detailing the adjustments deemed necessary to prevent the border carbon adjustment mechanism (CBAM) from undermining European competitiveness. Simplification, the watchword at the start of this mandate in Brussels, must apply to the CBAM, say the signatories. Several of the proposals are in line with those put forward by France.
