Interinstitutional agreement : Verhofstadt named EP negotiator

The European Parliament’s Conference of Presidents backed, on 11 June, Martin Schulz’s proposal to appoint Guy Verhofstadt (Belgium), the leader of the ALDE group, to conduct the negotiations with the Commission and the Council on the interinstitutional agreement on better regulation on behalf of the EP. “His mandate will be established and updated by the Conference of Presidents, drawing on the expertise of the Legal Affairs and Constitutional Affairs Committees,” reads a statement.
