Sean Carroll

EU politics reporter

Sean Carroll is an EU politics reporter who covers how political pressures - both domestic and international - shape Brussels’ policymaking.

Sean has dedicated the majority of his career to covering the EU, having written for outlets including Euractiv, where he served as transport policy editor, and FORESIGHT Climate and Energy, where he produced audio reportage and hosted The Urban Report podcast.

Prior to moving to Brussels, Sean gained early experience in the newsroom of the Irish Daily Mail in Dublin. He later worked in the communications department of the international city network ICLEI Europe in Freiburg, Germany.

Sean earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Dublin City University, Ireland and a master’s degree in European media from Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium. He holds dual Irish and Australian citizenship.
