Exiting Russian LNG : the EU-27 put several options on the table, with the Commission expected to take a hard look at them

The meeting of energy ministers on 15 October was an opportunity for several Member States to put pressure on the European executive to further reduce imports of Russian liquefied natural gas into the EU. France and Belgium put forward two separate initiatives, each receiving its share of support and criticism. But the Commission is on the sidelines, waiting for the new team at the helm.

The hunt for signatures at the bottom of informal notes and other working documents was in full swing on 15 October, in the corridors of the Luxembourg conference centre where the energy ministers of the EU-27 were meeting.
