The European Commission has proposed a long-awaited ban on all imports of Russian gas by 1 January 2028, a major step in the EU’s campaign to cut energy ties with Moscow after the invasion of Ukraine.
As previously reported by Contexte, the ban on Russian gas imports is to take place in three stages, and member states will be required to take the initiative to set out how they’ll wean themselves off supplies.
