Centrgaz, a subsidiary of state-owned Russian energy company Gazprom, clinched a business deal that will see it build the Serbian portion of the South Stream pipeline project. In a statement dated 8 July, Gazprom stated that Centrgaz won the tender ahead of four other Serbian and Russian companies. The deal is worth €2.1 billion, according to reports. The company will focus on design, procurement, construction and installation activities, personnel training and commissioning of South Stream in Serbia, Gazprom said.
