It is good news for European democracy. The average turnout for the 2014 European elections is just above the 2009 results (43%), according to provisional forecasts, updated on 26 May at 10:00. The constant drop since 1979 has been stopped, as several political leaders have underlined in the wake of the annoucement of the results. One can speak of stabilisation, more than of a trend in reverse as Jaume Duch, Parliament’s spokesman, announced to the press.
