The new rules adopted by the European Commission, on 21 March, for technology transfer agreements maintain the generally favourable approach to such agreements under EU anti-trust rules. The package, made up of a block exemption regulation and ad hoc guidelines, clarifies provisions in force until the end of April 2014. It also provides further guidance on licensing agreements and patent pools, as requested by stakeholders.
