Latvian MEP Iveta Grigule’s departure from the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy (EFDD) group, on 16 October, sounded the death knell for the Eurosceptic group, which no longer meets the conditions for forming a political group. Only six member states are now represented within EFDD - when seven are required. The conference of group presidents has therefore concluded that the group must be dissolved.
