EU and Faroe Islands end herring war

"I am very pleased to announce today that the European Union and the Faroe Islands have reached a political understanding to end their dispute on herring," announced Fisheries Commissioner Maria Damanaki. The agreement concerns management of the Atlanto-Scandian herring stock in the North-East Atlantic. The Faroe Islands have agreed to end their over-fishing of this stock.
