EU to open import quota for sugar for industrial use

The member states, meeting in the Management Committee for the Common Organisation of Agricultural Markets, approved, on 15 May, with 264 votes in favour, 51 against and 33 abstentions, a proposal by the European Commission to open, as of October 2014, an import quota for sugar for industrial use of 400,000 tonnes per year in the next three marketing years.
