French aid for Reunion Island airport cleared

The Commission approves the project that will help achieve an objective of common European interest by relieving infrastructure saturation

The French state has contributed €51 million to the modernisation and upgrading of Roland Garros Airport on Reunion Island. The Commission concluded that the interest rate on the €45 million loan contracted with the Caisse des dépôts et consignations to finance the project does not constitute state aid because it corresponds to market rates.
