Legal migration projects for "long and medium term"
"We cannot say that 'we can't take in all the world's poor' – to quote one of your colleagues, a former French Socialist prime minister – and at the same time say that we mustn't deal with legal migration. Legal migration is part of the medium-term solution so it requires action," said the Commission president. He stressed the "urgency" of the situation, but noted that there would not be a "relocation system" in the short term.
