The nomination procedure to select the next president of the Eurogroup is now open. The Director-General of the Council’s General Secretariat, Carsten Pillath, has sent a letter to the members of the Eurogroup Working Group (the ‘sherpas’ of the eurozone´s finance ministers), asking them tosubmit the interested candidates´ applications by 16 June.
Shortly after the launch of the procedure, the incumbent, Jeroen Dijsselbloem, officially announced his candidacy.
