The EU Court of Justice will hear the parties to the case that pits Austrian lawyer Max Schrems against Facebook, on 24 March in Luxembourg. The judgement on the merit of the case, expected by the end of 2015, will address the legal status of the Safe Harbour agreement between the European Union and the United States for the transfer of European data to the US.

"Europe vs Facebook"
- In 2011, law student Max Schrems submitted a request to Facebook to access his data. He received 1,200 pages that also contained data he had previously deleted. He subsequently lodged a complaint against Facebook- July 2013, Ireland's data protection commissioner rejected Schrems' complaint- July 2014, the High Court of Ireland referred the case to the EU Court of Justice- 1 August 2014: Collective action against Facebook filed in Vienna on behalf of 25,000 persons.
