Leading film makers have hit out at reform suggestions to introduce multi-territory licensing, fearing it could encourage a “Walmartisation of culture”.
British director Peter Webber said EU licensing – if it was introduced - could reduce choice for viewers and lead to fewer niche films being distributed. He said: “Small voices would get pushed aside under an EU-wide system”.
