As expected, Frans Timmermans’ better regulation package, unveiled on 19 May, divides political groups along right-left lines.
The EPP, ECR and ALDE groups very much welcomed the proposals, even asking the European Commission to go further on some elements, such as creating an external body, which would review (and possibly even draft) the impact assessments of the three institutions.
