European Commission President José Manuel Barroso presented, on 5 March, what he described as the Commission's contribution to the broader efforts to help "stabilise the economic and financial situation in Ukraine". The package, which includes loans, grants, technical assistance, the creation of a donor coordination platform and the prospect of a provisional application of the deep and comprehensive free trade area, amounts to a total support of ?11 billion over the next years.
