During a symbolic ceremony held on 5 May, Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite officially announced the start of construction of a 500 MW power cable between Lithuania and Poland. Visiting the Alytus (South) construction site, she emphasised that “not only will the LitPol Link connect us to Western Europe, but it will also reduce our dependency on the current main energy provider, Russia”.
