Norway needs to be confident that European gas demand will remain stable over the next decades in order for it to invest in more exploration facilities, top Statoil officials said.
About half of the Scandinavian country’s remaining gas reserves are yet to be exploited, but the European Union needs to give clear investment signals that gas will remain important in its future energy mix, said Oeivind Dahl-Stamnes, vice-president for Troll operations at the Norwegian oil and gas company.
