In agreement with experts from the member states, the European Commission adopted, on 19 May, new test procedures for pollutant emissions from diesel cars (NOx and particles). These procedures must be endorsed by the Council but not by the European Parliament. The Commission and the member states will then need to agree on air-polluting emission limits for the real world tests as well as on the implementation schedule. This should be done by the end of the summer.
